Best Time to Visit Maui, Hawaii: Month by Month Weather and Pricing Guide

Every destination has its own rhythm. Maui moves at a pace that rewards curiosity — the best experiences here aren't in the brochures, they're around the next corner.

Best Time to Visit Maui

April through November (dry season), whale season December–March offer the most reliable weather. Temperatures range from 66°F (19°C) to 85°F (29°C). The shoulder months often deliver the best value with nearly the same conditions.

High Season

December through April brings the best weather, the biggest crowds, and the highest prices. Book 3–6 months ahead for peak dates. This is when Maui is at its most vibrant — and most expensive.

Shoulder Season

May–June and November offer 20–40% lower prices with weather that's still excellent most days. You might catch an afternoon rain shower, but it rarely lasts more than an hour. Many travelers consider this the best time to visit.

Low Season

July through October is the warmest and wettest period. Prices are lowest and you'll have attractions to yourself. Trade-off: some businesses reduce hours or close for renovation. Travel insurance that covers weather disruptions is essential.

What to Pack

Light breathable clothing, reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 50+), a packable rain jacket, comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent, and one nicer outfit for upscale dining. Bring a reusable water bottle — you'll need it.

Month-by-Month Overview

January–March: Peak perfection, peak prices. April: Great weather, slightly fewer crowds. May–June: Rain increases, deals emerge. July–August: Hot, humid, family travel peak. September–October: Wettest, cheapest. November: Season turns, excellent value. December: Holiday surge — book early.
